Equality and diversity

Introduction

Here I outline my intention to treat people with equality and to give each person a fair opportunity to be included, participate in and enjoy my courses. I will take precautions to try to ensure that no student is discriminated against for any reason.

Disability

If any student has physical, mental, emotional or spiritual difficulties with any aspect of this course I will make every effort to accommodate them and help them. Please make me aware of any such issues or ways in which you think I may be able to help you so that we can agree what to do.

Discrimination

I will try to ensure that access to my training courses and the treatment of students on these courses does not discriminate against any individual or group on the grounds of age, sex, race, colour, nationality or ethnic or national origin, religion or belief or perceived religion or belief. If you feel that you have been discriminated against on any of these grounds please bring this to my attention.

Special educational needs

If you are aware that you have any special needs relating to reading or writing or anything relating to the academic requirements of the course I will try to accommodate you. This course assesses the ability of students using carefully set criteria (detailed below). If you feel that you are being assessed against criteria that are outside of these or are unclear, it is not your fault, so please let me know so that I can do something about it.

Abuse or harassment

Abuse of any nature or harassment under any circumstances is completely unacceptable and I ask that any such incidents are brought to my attention immediately.

Student support

Student support is a very high priority on my courses.since students will be mentally and emotionally challenged by the work. Although much of this course will lead students to blissful and wonderful experiences and feelings, some challenges may lead to a variety of fears, emotional instability, anxiety and other problems. For this reason there are three immediate levels of support for students. The first is me, as your Reiki teacher and course tutor. Please let me know if you are having a difficult time since there are many ways in which I can help you, even at a distance. The second is the whole group. Just coming along to the sessions will give you the opportunity to be helped by many healers and friends at once. The third is your personal healer, a peer from the group who will be attending to you throughout the course. If you need help or support please talk to me or someone in the group, so that you can be helped.

Health and safety

Under health and safety legislation we should all be taking sensible and reasonable steps to protect the health of ourselves and others and ensure that we stay safe. If you notice anything that may put yourself or another at risk because of any kind of hazard please tell me straight away so that I can take appropriate action.
